Project Scope
The Truck to Tank project at Magellan Midstream’s Nashville II terminal was designed to add butane blending capabilities to the facility. Along with the new blending capabilities, two new pumps were installed at each of the two existing gasoline tanks to increase the throughput of the loading rack. Two diesel loading arms were converted to gasoline to meet the increasing demands of the rack. A new prefabricated test building was installed on site for product testing. Excellence coordinated with Magellan and the local electric utility to upgrade the facility’s service and provided specifications for a new motor control center (MCC) to operate the new pumps. New instrumentation for the pumps and a Remote I/O Panel were installed near the new MCC to be controlled via the new remote I/O via the Nashville II facility’s station programmable controller. A new work platform in the Tank Farm Area was also designed to accommodate the new MCC and Remote I/O Panel. New instrumentation and controls were integrated into the existing loading rack controls to accommodate the new loading arms.

Notable Accomplishments & Challenges
- Site made up of mostly limestone which made the construction of pump foundations and pipe supports difficult and labor intensive.
- Through constant communication with the field, Excellence was able to adjust the design as needed to overcome unforeseen issues and minimize construction delays to complete the job on schedule.
